Kategorie: 40 Years After Orientalism

“40 Years After Orientalism” reflects on the legacies of Edward Said’s seminal text, Orientalism, published in 1978. The aim is to examine the persistence of Orientalism’s groundbreaking contribution to postcolonial scholarship, to discuss the conversations, excavations and critiques triggered by Said’s work, and to think about what it can teach us today. The series is based on the public lecture series and MA seminar, “40 Years After Orientalism – Configurations of Knowledge/Power Today”, held at the Institute of Islamic Studies of the Freie Universität Berlin in Winter Semester 2018/2019.
