“There has never been deregulation”. Interview with Nicole Mayer-Ahuja
On November 20 and 21st 2018, the Annual Conference of the Forum Transregionale Studien and the Max Weber Stiftung – Deutsche Geisteswissenschaftliche Institute im Ausland took place in Berlin. The conference “Knowledge and Society in Times of Upheaval” was jointly convened by Andreas Eckert (HU Berlin/Forum Transregionale Studien), Simone Lässig (GHI Washington) and Franz Waldenberger (DIJ Tokyo).
Our colleague Ewa Dąbrowska interviewed one of the conference speakers – Prof. Nicole Mayer-Ahuja. Prof. Mayer-Ahuja is a labour and economic sociologist and the director of the Sociological Research Institute SOFI at the Georg-August-University in Göttingen. Ewa Dąbrowska asked her about the impact of digitalization and “industry 4.0” on companies and labour and about attempts at regulating the platform economy and protecting “clickworkers”.
